What a surprise to have been invited to Singapore, our good friend Sue was taking her mum to visit her sister and we had an opportunity to tag along.  I have only had a quick stop over in Singapore so it was a great opportunity to see some more of the Country.

We did the tourist sites from Changi Chapel and Museum which was very moving, we went for a walk along the side streets, not realising we were walking beside the jail, we got a lot of cat calls from the inmates, not that they could see us more like hear us as we tried to work out how to get back on track.  Not bad for three members who are trained in navigating!

The Gardens by the bay were newly created so we got to see some of the new landscape but the super tree’s weren’t fully operational as yet.  We visited the Botanical gardens which were absolutely amazing.  A day trip to Sentosa was a pleasant surprise with sandy beaches, birdlife and sand sculptures.
We went on a three day cruise around Singapore with a day trip to Laguna Redang Island, this was my first ever experience with cruising and I think 3 days was plenty.
On our return Carmel and I went to Bangkok for 5 nights, well what an eye opener that was for me high risers as far as the eye could see, the amount of motorbikes was overwhelming, the amount of people at the buddha temple was suffocating but we took it all in.   The rural areas were beautiful and the ancient architecture was great to see, we did do the elephant ride but I regretted it afterwards when we saw one of the elephants pacing and upset with people around him.

As it was a quick trip to Thailand we really didn’t get to enjoy all of the things that Thailand has to offer so would like to go back and spend a little more time there.
